SENIOR TELL IT THEIR WAY- A STORYTELLING CONTEST
Jointly organised by the National Library Board and Community Development Councils (CDCs) islandwide, the Seniors Tell It Their Way Storytelling Competition is open to participants aged 45 to 60 who would like to share a story or recite a poem in English or another language.
It is hoped that this joint effort will reach out and engage the seniors in developing an interest in reading and storytelling as well as offer them an opportunity to be part of an interest group
The objectives of the event are:
· To encourage senior citizens to start reading as a hobby and share their joy in reading with the young.
· Inculcate a healthy lifestyle among the seniors and to promote active ageing through storytelling.
2 categories: English and 2nd Language (Malay, Chinese, Tamil).
In each category, participants will compete in one of two age groups:
Silver – for those between 45 and 60 years old), and
Golden – for those above 60 years old
Semi-Final (District Level) on 31 August 2008 @ Tampines Regional Library
Final (National Level) on 30 November 2008 @ National Library Plaza at the Central Lending Library, Victoria Street.
